Job Fit Filter is a browser extension that scores LinkedIn job listings against your resume. This policy explains exactly what it stores, what it sends, and where that goes.
Your resume stays on your own computer. It is sent to a language model only to score a job you are looking at, and it is never stored on our servers, sold, or used for advertising. There is no analytics or tracking of any kind.
Everything below is stored locally on your device, in your browser's extension storage and IndexedDB. None of it is uploaded to us as a matter of course.
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Resume text | Scoring job fit. Entered by paste, or extracted from a PDF you upload. |
| Distilled resume summary | A short rubric derived from your resume, used to score list items cheaply. |
| Your stated preferences | Free text such as “remote only” or “no crypto”, shown as a transparent overlay on results. |
| Analysis history | Title, company, URL, score and the full analysis for each job you analyze. |
| Dismissed jobs | Jobs you hid, so they stay hidden. |
| Settings | Score threshold, scoring mode, provider choice, panel state. |
| Your OpenAI API key | Only if you choose to supply one. Stored locally; sent only to OpenAI. |
| Beta invite code | Only if you use the beta. Stored locally; sent only to our proxy. |
| A random device identifier | A UUID generated on install, used to apply beta usage limits. Not linked to your name, email, or any account. |
PDF resumes are parsed on your device. The file itself is never uploaded — text is extracted locally and only that text is used.
You can export, import, or erase all of this at any time from the extension's Options page, under “Your Data”. Erasing it removes it permanently; we have no copy to restore.
To score a job, the extension sends the language model your resume text, your stated preferences, and the job posting you are looking at (title, company, location, description). This happens only when a score or analysis is being produced.
Which route it takes depends on the mode you choose:
If you supply your own OpenAI API key, requests go directly from your browser to OpenAI. They do not pass through our servers, and we never see your resume, the jobs you look at, or your key.
If you use a beta invite code, requests go to our proxy at ai.geniusofyou.com, which forwards them to OpenAI using our API key. The proxy also receives your device identifier and invite code, which are used solely to apply daily usage limits.
In both cases the processing is performed by OpenAI, whose terms and privacy policy apply to that step: openai.com/policies.
Nothing about the content. The proxy does not store your resume, the job descriptions you analyze, or the results. They are forwarded and discarded.
What it does keep:
Invite codes are stored only as an irreversible hash. Resume text, job descriptions, API keys, and invite codes are explicitly excluded from all application logging.
The extension runs only on LinkedIn job pages (www.linkedin.com/jobs/*). It reads the job listings displayed there in order to score them. It does not read your messages, your connections, your profile, or any other part of LinkedIn, and it does not run on any other website.
This extension is intended for adults seeking employment and is not directed at children under 13.
If this policy changes materially, the effective date above will be updated. For a beta of this size, material changes will also be mentioned to invited testers directly.
